Cavtat is a pretty little village 15km South of Dubrovnik. It is very much on the radar of the tour operators although at the moment there are relatively few resort hotels, the majority of tourists opting to stay in self catering apartments.

The town sits at the base of a small wooded promontory separating the waterfront into 2 bays, one very picturesque surrounded by bars, restaurants and small shops, the other, larger, more open and hosting a marina and large car park.

As with most beaches along this stretch of coast, a rocky foreshore is the order of the day and I wonder if the lack of sandy beaches might save the region from the worst ravages of mass tourism.
